From meetings with customers to the start of mass production.
Because of my father's love to cars and motorcycles, I grew up surrounded by miniature cars before I even realized it, and I decided to move on to the automotive industry long before started looking for a job. Currently, as a design engineer, I am in charge of the "differential gear" which creates the difference in distance between the inner ring and the outer ring when a car turns. Strength, durability, and sound are calculated to meet customer requirements. Dimensions and shapes are determined, and prototype drawings are created. I, who is in charge of design, will serve as a technical contact with customers while the specialized department makes prototypes and tests. When we receive approval for the prototype and start mass production, we consult with production technology to adjust the shape and dimensions so that it can be produced without any defects or variations on the production line. When we first receive a request for design, it is important to know the model of the vehicle.
Because it is left to your own discretion, it is fun even if it is hard.
The design of automobile parts has been in a long race, lasting about two years until the launch of new models. But our customers require us to conduct testing every 3 ~ 6 months continuously. In addition, you may be asked to change the specifications just before the start of mass production. We share information with other departments on a daily basis, ensuring that we can work together quickly and finish within the deadline. Without our products, our customers cannot deliver cars to the customers. Of course, there are times when it is hard. Even so, with only a small number of designers, we have to design products from a variety of perspectives, such as the cost of the product. Working independently without asking what we should do is also an important aspect.
Occasionally, we encounter an issue in designing and consult with our supervisors, we are given freedom to push our own ideas and execute them. That what makes Musashi special.
