Musashi Seimitsu Industry Co., Ltd. (Head office: Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan; President and CEO: Hiroshi Otsuka; “Musashi”) and Musashi Energy Solutions Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, President: Koji Takahashi; “MES”) announced a project with Motivo Engineering (Headquarters: Los Angles, California, USA, President: Allen Goad; “Motivo”), a leading California based product development company, to develop energy solution business opportunities to fully make use of MES’s main product of Lithium Ion Capacitor (LIC) in North America.

MES President Koji Takahashi noted that, “We have selected Motivo to assist our commercialization of our Lithium Ion Capacitor technology. With our core technology expertise and Motivo’s experience across a wide variety of transportation platforms, we are confident customers will be able to enhance their efficiency from both a performance and cost basis.”

Motivo President Allen Goad remarked, “We are thrilled to work with Musashi to showcase the fantastic properties of their Lithium Ion Capacitor technology. With Motivo having worked on everything from the electrification of one-wheel skateboards to 18-wheel class-8 trucks, we see immense customer benefits with the Musashi technology.”

LIC is a new electric storage device which power density and lifetime cycle are much higher than regular lithium ion battery (LIB), yet it does not generate thermal runaway. LIC is used for rapid charge / discharge, energy regeneration, peak assist, etc., which will save power and make effective use of energy. The project will develop business solutions fully utilizing such strengths of LIC in the fields of clean energy societies, DX environment as well as eMobility in North America.
